Harper government poised to lose vote over Kyoto...The USifying of Canada Part 45: The Harper basically wants out of Kyoto. And he's whining (harping) about how hard for corporations to meet the targets it is. The Bloc Quebecois have shown a vulnerability in the Tory/BQ alliance by expecting the government to respect the treaty and not ditch it like a certain other right-wing maniac in some other North American country.

Bush admits to being an idiot...Junior, in a rare reflective mood, said that his July 2003 remark "Bring 'em on" in reference to Iraqi insurgents was perhaps incredibly stupid and strategically unwise and demonstrated the abysmal judgement typical of his administration. Well, maybe not in so many words, but, you do get the impression that he realizes he talks some mind-bogglingly foolish cowboy shit that rubs some people the wrong way.
The impression I get is that Georgie-boy is a more-or-less decent spoiled brat who means well but couldn't find his ass if every US intelligence agent were assigned to the case, and it's the members of his administration who don't resign who are the evil, conniving motherfuckers out to destroy the planet.

Research shows that Working moms aren't as fat as stay-at-home moms. Fox News needed a study to tell them that...

Bush to send 6,000 troops to Mexico border in preparation of the upcoming invasion. Sure Mexico may not have oil...that I know of....but they have cheap labour, another valuable commodity...

Hussein trial enters new phase, when the chief judge formally charged the ousted Iraqi leader with murder, torture and the illegal arrest of 399 people in a crackdown....
Couldn't Bush Jr be charged with all that too? Plus, the illegal surveillance...And there should also be some law against staggeringly fatal incompetance amongst people who have the ability to cause massive widescale destruction...
Why hasn't Junior been impeached?
Because the Democrats have been whipped into uselessness, the Republicans control all levels of government and everyone's shitting themselves profusely over the thought of President Dick "Go Fuck Yourself" Cheney, whose hobbies include obliterating all life and just generally being a, well, dick...
All the terrible and horrendous and obscene aspects of George "Dubya Stands For I'm a War President" Bush originate with Cheney. The Democrats know that impeaching Bush still leaves Dick and Rummy, who's dangerously oblivious to reality. And the Republicans know that if you dump Bush and his country-grown buffoonery, you remove all of the administration's redeeming qualities.
And it's an election year...
I wonder if Junior got his dick sucked by an intern and then lied about it, would anything happen?

The Bushification of Canada, Part 12: Harper says Canada will stay in Kyoto Protocol beyond 2012 (assuming that the earth as we know it is still here past December 12 of that year), but only if it's less effective. They want softer penalties for missing targets and seem to believe in the myth of corporate responsibility as they want some measures to be on a voluntary basis.

Another Bush appointee flees in disgrace. Porter Goss is the latest evidence of the Bush administration implosion. Which is much better, I think, than if they explode. Not as messy in the end, but just as fun to watch...

Train airs hacker's PM insult: "A case of 'electronic vandalism' mocking the Prime Minister has left a media company red-faced after a hacker tampered with advertising signs on Toronto commuter trains to read 'Stephen Harper Eats Babies.'"

Fox News mouthpieces and the rest of the liberal media don't appear to be happy with Stephen Colbert's performance at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner this weekend. They claim he went over the line, repeatedly beating on Junior, who sat a few feet from him and was visibly disturbed as Colbert delivered one barbed zinger after another, lampooning everyone in the room and every policy of the administration. But, what the hell did they expect him to do?
Most Fox News pundits say he was not funny, which is easy to do because his routine got very few laughs from the crowd, and it was full of satire and irony, which is of course a weak spot for conservatives, traditionally. Most of the shots of the crowd were of nervous laughter or wide-eyed expressions of terrified shock, as if Colbert's routine would permanently shatter their illusions of a competant government and press corps.
If you missed the broadcast, you can probably still find a torrent of Colbert's performance at any number of bittorrents sites, which I won't link to directly because I'm not sure of the legality of downloading C-Span broadcasts. Anyone know if that's legal or not?
And while I'm on the subject, I'm searching for various out-of-print CDs, and I'm curious about the legality of downloading them. If something's out-of-production, is it still illegal to download it?
