Pluto kicked out of the planet club...citing Pluto's increasingly odd behaviour off-screen, the International Astronomical Union has ended its long association with the planet, calling it's behaviour "unacceptable". Representatives of Pluto say they will start thir own Astronomical Union...Oh, wait...I'm getting this mixed up with Tom Cruise...
Pluto...2500 scientists voted that Pluto be downgraded as a "dwarf planet", which has some groups up in arms...organizations like Little People of America, who demand to know if the IAU would downgrade them from the category of humans. Others accuse the IAU of elitism, since allowing Pluto into the club would also necessitate the inclusion of at least three other objects floating around the solar system.
Members of the IAU insist that planets have to follow rules. And they cite Pluto's flagrant disregard for the rules as reasons for kicking it out of the club. Said one: "For years, Pluto's gotten away with bizarre behaviour. I mean, look at it's orbit! It's totally out of whack. What kind of example is that setting for the other planets?! They should be in a confined plane. I hope this sends a message to Mercury, who better get its act together!"

MP Wrzesnewskyj resigns over Hezbollah comments after chickenshit Liberals demand his resignation for daring to suggest that Canada be open to negotiating with Hezbollah. Tory hacks seemed to accuse the fact-finding MPs who went to Lebanon of Nazi party affiliations and anti-semetism, which scared the shit out of the Liberals, specifically the one's in the running for party leadership. Yet, no one's pointed out that the Conservative Party of Canada hates Arabs. Weird...

U of O, 10 others pull out of Maclean's ratings 10 universities have declined to cooperate with Maclean's university ranking tests. "This kind of a ranking is quite insidious," said David Mitchell, vice-president of university relations at the University of Ottawa. It's "oversimplified" and "arbitrary" and "meaningless". Also, it causes the universities much stress and frustration and sleepless nights. Students across the country feel no simpathy for them...they want to know how they can refuse to cooperate with the oversimplified, arbirary and meaningless standardized testing that's become the education system.

Harper says Israeli response maybe not so measured, now... But he also says that he still can't call for a ceasefire or withdraw his unquestioning support of the bomb-happy Israeli government until he gets the okay from George Junior. He also says that anyone who doesn't support his position just isn't smart enough to understand it. And if everyone would just shut up and keep their opinions to themselves, his job would be so much easier. No one understands how difficult it is, Harper said, to be a lackey of the American government and lead a semi-autonomous country full of people who don't "get" him. The brown stain on his lips and nose is a "heavy burden", the Prime Minister claimed.

Chris Nolan returns to direct The Dark Knight, the sequel to Batman Begins, and it appears that it'll pick up right where that movie left off, as Heath Ledger has been cast as the Joker.
I don't know much about Ledger. The only thing I've seen him in was Terry Gilliam's under-rated The Brothers Grimm, which was a lot more fun and imaginative than critics gave it credit. But, I thought Ledger played an excellent Michael Palin...watch that flick, that's who he's acting as...the nervous, rambling obsessive compulsiveness...if the movie had been made, like, what 15 years ago, Palin would have had that role...but anyway...He seems a capable actor, but can he pull off the Joker? We'll see...
Also, it's nice to see that "Batman" isn't in the title. I like "The Dark Knight". Good choice.
Hopefully, Nolan and crew can live up to the expectations and produce a worthy sequel. DC have been getting trounced by Marvel in the comics to film world.
Although, I have to say I enjoyed V for Vendetta. They pretty much captured the spirit of Alan Moore's comic from 1982, while updating its distopian future. Hugo Weaving was a great as V. My only problems with the flick were Natalie Portman's metamorphing accent and that Americans were attempting to write British slang. Other than that, an entertaining and very relevant movie.
