At some point in the late 20th Century, bored human and alien scientists decided to create a genetic mutation from a human fetus, some lint, a case of beer, some cigarettes and various odds and ends sitting around the office. They raised it until their attention was drawn to other matters, and then the mutation was left to fend for itself. It survived on the streets eating garbage and runaway children until one day it found a Casio keyboard and became Cancerhead. Immediately he recorded an album of "songs" that weren't actually written, A Lot of Noise, in 1989. It was terrible. As if talent didn't matter, it was followed less than a month later by Big Daddy-Gas Blow Fart, which was also horrible.
Deciding that more than a cheesy Casio was required, he mauled a street busker to steal his guitar. It was an accoustic, which suited him not. Using primitive recording techniques, Cancerhead distorted the hell out of it so that it was unrecognizable Then he decided that songs were better if they were actually written before recording, but lacking the necessary skills, he released a cover LP, Self-Titled Albums Show No Imagination. It was frightening.
More albums followed, including a compilation of singles, Wonky Putsfiz: Various Singles, in spite of the fact that no singles were ever released. More albums follwed.
During the recording of the 11th Cancerhead album, Yo! Homeboy, Excuse Me, Do You Mind?, the band began bickering pointlessly with himself and decided to split up. He reformed in 1991 as Rodel Cast and released two more albums, one pretty bad and the other just plain fuckawful, after which he vanished completely...
Until 2002, when, while surveying the music industry, Cancerhead noticed that a vast number of artists with even less talent than him had made it big. He began again making mind-numbing noise, but this time with a computer, which he acquired after assaulting and eating a hapless graphic designer. He began making music for Nihilist Glee Club's Online Comics and working on his own new material.
In 2004 he released the comeback CD Lab Results, which he dubbed "Electronic music for the apocalypse", as well as a now out-of-print compilation Best Forgotten, both to critical ambivilance.
A new compilation, Eat the World and a new CD, You're Gonna Hate This: Pop Music for the Apocalypse were just released. Upcoming plans include a collection of music from the NGC Online Comics and the next album's working title is "Techno for the Apocalypse", although it'll probably be called something else when it's done... |
